Ahmad Jamal McGhee aka *J. Ahmad*, is changing all the rules when it comes to being a gospel artist. His music is birthed out of the need to see lives changed out of pure, passionate, and positive lyrics. From the very moment you hear the sound of his voice you will recognize he is an artist that means every word he sings.
Ahmad came to a point in his life where he understood how important it was for him to produce positive music and be an influential artist. Understanding that this generation is in need of positive music, when J. Ahmad is not headlining Theatrical Plays, he is spending his time writing music and in the studio for hours at a time.
J. Ahmad was born on October 29, 1982 in Fort Hood, Texas. From there he and his family moved throughout the U.S until they found home in Atlanta, GA. It was there he found his passion for music, after being over heard by some classmates at Atlanta’s Inman middle school, Jamal was encouraged to enter into what would be his very first talent show at Grady High School. Donell Jones rendition of "Knocks e off my Feet" was his song of choice. With an overwhelming feeling of nervousness he approached the stage. As he began to sing the crowd joined in as they too loved that song. With an entire audience clapping and cheering him on, his purpose and destiny was revealed that night.
2003 marked one of the highlights of his career. That year he was discovered by play writer, actor and director Tyler Perry. He was selected to play the role of Victor the "dj and the waiter" in Tyler Perry’s "Madeas class reunion”. Shortly after touring with Mr. Perry he was selected to headline in Negoya, Japan with the corporate band "Chapter Two “and in 2006 Jamal was blessed with yet another opportunity to work with Mr. Perry. This time he receive a supporting role as Calvin Rhodes Jr. in Tyler Perry’s "What’s done in the dark". He also landed a supporting a supporting role as Bryce on the hit sitcom “Meet the Browns”. And He toured with T. P’s in the play “Marriage Counselor.”
After much success in the play circuit Jamal is ready to get back to the music. His main goal is to change the way gospel music is done, so that he can help change the lives of those that hears the message.
